The one product I swear by to make introducing solids easier
Plus 5 recipes to tackle the big allergens without fear
When we started introducing solids, I didn’t follow any particular protocol.
The philosophy of our pediatrician was to start introducing allergens as soon as possible, without stressing about any sequence. Even if they were trace amounts, it would help to build her tolerance. The more the merrier, the sooner the better.
So we dove right in.
Our baby’s first solid food was a bamba, the Israeli peanut butter puffs that melt in your mouth (and are said to be single handedly responsible for the Israeli population having so few peanut allergies).
We gave her a little guac and tuna salad off our fingers, but for the most part, she wasn’t into purees, naturally gravitating more towards the “baby led weaning” approach of gnawing on finger foods.
One happy medium that seemed to satisfy her desire to use food as a teething device, while enjoying new and exciting flavors, was POPSICLES.
We bought this Haaka popsicle mold and tray which gave her a sturdy handle to grasp and a baby-sized puck of frozen treat to enjoy before it melted all over her.
It was the single best purchase we made when starting our solids journey and I wanted to share some simple recipes with you for how to integrate various allergens into your routine. Plus, have some fun with new fruits and flavors in the process!
The chart below has 5 different combinations (using only 3 ingredients each) that will allow you to create an assorted freezer bag of pops. They don’t all have to be sweet—your baby has no idea that it’s not culturally acceptable to eat green soup in popsicle form. Mine loved it!
